Ferme Granite 1981

Granite Farm 1981

It was in 2020 that Catherine Laporte and Rémi Poirier took over La Ferme Granite to carry out a mission that was very important to them: that of bringing to life food from regenerative agriculture.

Why the name "Granite Farm 1981"? It's what was displayed in the old barn when they first visited, and 1981 corresponds to their year of birth. What a wonderful coincidence!

These young market gardeners aspire to develop organic farmland, offer baskets of fresh vegetables, and open a kiosk on the farm grounds. It's no small feat: opening a farm comes with a lot of learning, both technical and personal, but that's exactly what gives their work meaning.

Additionally, Catherine always felt that her partner, Rémi, was from a different era: he makes his own yogurt, butter, bread, and kombucha. So she had no doubt that Rémi was born to be a farmer.

And so their beautiful adventure began!

Where nature and humans meet

Catherine is an artist, speaker, and new farmer. As she likes to say, the farm is a place where art and carrots grow. On the 25-acre grounds, art installations appear among the trees and outdoor team-building activities are offered.

It was this line from a poem by Dalie Giroux that inspired Catherine to make a connection between nature and humanity: "Always learn from the place." Dancing in the field, reclaiming everyday life, this is what transforms them and this is what makes Ferme Granite 1981 a place of passion and magic.
