Quebec's best cheese of 2022 finally revealed

On Wednesday, November 2, the long-awaited awards ceremony for the Sélection Caseus competition took place. The winners are implemented and recognized by the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) and the Quebec Institute of Agri-Food Technology (ITAQ).

During this 22nd awards ceremony, which took place at the Musée de la Civilisation in Quebec, the grand winners of the 2022 Caseus Selection were revealed.

The prestigious Caseus Gold Award was awarded to Zacharie Cloutier cheese, produced by Fromagerie Nouvelle France in the Eastern Townships. This sheep's milk cheese thus becomes the best cheese in Quebec for 2022.

The Caseus Silver Prize was awarded to Bleu d’Élizabeth cheese from Fromagerie Le Presbytère (Centre-du-Québec).

Finally, Chemin Hatley cheese, from Fromagerie La Station (Estrie), was awarded the Caseus Bronze prize.

The jury also awarded a special mention for the best organic cheese to Foin-de-Grèves from the Fromagerie des Grondines (Capitale-Nationale).

As for the special mention for the best raw milk cheese, this was awarded to the Louis d'Or Grand Réserve cheese from Fromagerie Le Presbytère (Centre-du-Québec).
