On September 6th, the famous Sélection Caseus awards ceremony took place, which each year recognizes the best cheeses in Quebec in various categories.
This year, Fromagerie Nouvelle France celebrates a remarkable victory with its Zacharie Cloutier cheese, once again crowned the best Quebec cheese for a second consecutive year.
This cheese received the coveted Caseus Gold Award, a symbol of cheesemaking excellence in Quebec. This is the 17th Caseus Award for this veteran of the competition.
The Silver Caseus was awarded to the Louis Cyr 2 year old, produced by Fromagerie Bergeron in Chaudière-Appalaches, which thus won its eighth Caseus prize.
The Caseus Bronze Award was given to Grey Owl, made by Fromagerie Le Détour in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. This victory represents the fourth Caseus Award for this delicious cheese.
Fromagerie La Station, located in Estrie, was honored for its Chemin Hatley, which received special mentions for best organic cheese and best farmhouse cheese.
The winners were announced at the awards ceremony held at the Musée de la civilisation in Quebec City, in the presence of numerous partners. This year, the competition featured 202 cheeses evaluated by a jury of 25 experts. Following this rigorous evaluation process, 21 cheeses stood out in various competition categories.
